I was a self-coached marathon runner for many years,  and then added triathlon to mix,  while continuing to run marathons.   Eric has coached me for over two years.  My primary goal was to improve my marathon PR enough to run a Boston Qualifier.   At age 54,  it wasn’t going to be easy to pull 3 minutes out of my PR that was set at age 48.

Eric worked with me on that as a long term goal,  putting together training plans that focused on zone 2 workouts,  with the right amount of variety/speed/endurance focus so as to avoid injury.   I have continued doing triathlons for fun,  and Eric’s workouts incorporate swim/bike/strength,  all in appropriate levels.   After two years of training,  I successfully ran a BQ,  pulling 4 minutes out of my PR!  It was wonderful to achieve that long-term (nearly life long) goal,  and there is no way I could have done that by myself.   Eric customizes workouts to my available time and fitness level,  and adjusts as needed around the surprises of life.  He is an extremely knowledgeable coach,  focused on helping his athletes achieve their goals,  is positive about life and athletic goals,  and is  a great person to be around.

Life is busy for everybody,  and it is very nice to have an experienced coach putting together custom training plans.  There is accountability in knowing that my completed workouts are being looked at by coach Eric,  and I enjoy the discussions we have about how workouts are going and how fitness is progressing.

Now that I achieved the BQ goal,  I continue to work with Eric as my coach as I continue to run marathons and do triathlons.   I have race specific goals,  and Eric works with me to put training plans together for those goals.  I’m looking forward to seeing what this year brings in terms of fitness and racing.  I highly recommend Eric as a coach!
